I think my mule got the better of this deal. I look like I spent more time on the ground than he did!

My pard and I (We were hunting elk) spent two weeks each fall, over a period of 15 years in a row, leading our pack horses and mules through the magnificient high mountain meadows and alpine parks of Wyoming. We figured, over those fifteen years, we led those pack horses some 2,000 miles, many of those miles near timberline between ten and eleven thousand feet and rarely saw any trails and never any people. We had the opportunity to use knives, saws and axes, in addition to our rifles. We all have our favorites. My favorite axe is one I carried from my Missouri boyhood. I'm sure you all have the same story in your neck of the woods, "Best axe I ever owned. Wore out two heads and three handles."

I teach now, mostly science, and I like to write books. In fact I wrote a couple, Amy's Gold and Comes A Pale Horse. I have practiced medicine for almost forty years.

And I like to make knives.

I hope you like my work and I thank you for visiting.
